नटूरे और फटूरे

अंग्रेजी भाषा में शब्दों की स्पेलिंग का विज्ञान समझ में नहीं आता है।

अब देखिए अगर 'दो' लिखना हो तो हिंदी में तो जैसा बोला है वैसा ही लिखेंगे। अंग्रेजी में ऐसा लिखेंगे कि दिमाग घूम जाए - ' T H O U GH '

मेरी समझ में यह नहीं आता कि अगर रफ  लिखना हो तो सीधे-सीधे क्यों नहीं लिख देते। पर उसकी स्पेलिंग बनाई है  r o u g h । ऐसे ही स्पेलिंग बनाई है टफ की  tough। 

एक सीधा साधा हिंदुस्तानी आदमी जैसे लिखता है वैसे ही बोलता है । तो अगर क्लास में बच्चे ने मास्टर से पूछा कि मास्साब नटूरे का क्या मतलब होता है तो कौन सी बडी़ बात हो गई ? 

अब मास्टर साहब घर गए , ऑक्सफोर्ड इंग्लिश डिक्शनरी में 3 घंटे लगाकर ढूंढने की कोशिश की किंतु  नटूरे का अर्थ क्या होता है पता नहीं चला। जब खाना खाने के समय तक डिक्शनरी में उलझा रहे तो उनकी बीवी ने उनकी मदद की । उन्होंने कहा  'यह न टू रे  क्या लगा रखा है । इसको तो नेचर कहते हैं।'  तब जाकर मास्टर साहब की बात समझ में आई और उन्हें बहुत गुस्सा आया उस लड़के पर। 

अगले दिन क्लास में घुसते ही उन्होंने उस लड़के को पकड़ लिया और उसे हेड मास्टर के कमरे में ले गए और बोले 'सर यह लड़का तो पूरी क्लास को पागल कर के रख देगा । देखिए मुझसे पूछ रहा था नेचर का मतलब और बोल रहा था नेचर को नटूरे।  इसे तो क्लास से निकाल दीजिए।

मास्टर साहब ने लड़के को गौर से देखा तो लड़का तो सीधा साधा ही दिखाई दिया। समझ में नहीं आया कि मास्टर साहब क्या  कह रहे हैं ।

तो वह बोले 'देखिए मास्टर साहब, छोटी सी गलती के लिए निकाला नहीं जाता है स्कूल से। स्कूल से निकाल देंगे तो इसका फटूरे खराब हो जाएगा।'

दो दिन से मास्टर साहब ऑक्सफोर्ड इंग्लिश डिक्शनरी मे ढूंढ रहे हैं फटूरे का मतलब ।

अगर आपको पता हो फटूरे का मतलब तो मास्टर साहब को बता दीजिए ।

अंग्रेजों ने भारत में काफी समय तक शासन किया। भारत के शहरों  में अपने लिए अलग कॉलोनी बनाई,  अपने लिए शहर में अलग सड़कें बनाई । मिसाल के तौर पर नैनीताल की मॉल रोड  पर सिर्फ अंग्रेजी चल सकते थे हिंदुस्तानियों का वहां चलता मना था। उसके ठीक नीचे एक कच्ची सड़क होती थी जिस पर अंग्रेजों की घोड़े दौड़ते थे ।

हिंदुस्तानी लोग उस सड़क का इस्तेमाल करते थे। इसी तरह अलग क्लब बनाएं। अपने लिए अलग रेस्टोरेंट बनाएं ।

 उनकी उन सभी खास जगहों पर एक signboard दिखाई देता था जिस पर लिखा रहता था  ॑डॉग्स एंड इंडियंस नॉट अलाउड ॑ 

यानि हिंदुस्तानी और कुत्ते का अंदर आना मना है। 

ठीक है अगर आपको हिंदुस्तानी के अंदर आने पर आपत्ति है तब आप ऐसा लिख सकते हैं लेकिन साथ में कुत्ते का लिखना तो गलत बात थी। मतलब हुआ की हिंदुस्तानी और कुत्ते को आप एक ही श्रेणी मे रखते थे।

पर अब सब कुछ उलट-पुलट हो गया है। उसी इंग्लैंड में जहां पहले सब के सब गोरे लोग ही रहते थे अब एशिया के और अफ्रीका के लाखों लोग बेतकल्लुफ पहुंच गए हैं अपने कुत्तों के साथ और अंग्रेजों के शहरों में रहते रहते उसको पूरा का पूरा अपने पैदाइशी शहर जैसा बना दिया है। और तो और एक खालिस हिंदुस्तानी हिंदू भी प्रधानमंत्री के निवास स्थान पर जा बैठा है अपने कुत्ते nova के साथ।

एक जोक याद आ गया है। एक बार जापान की एक बहुत बड़ी हस्ती बिहार गई और वहां उसने लालू प्रसाद यादव से मुलाकात की।  दोस्ती हो गई तो उन्होंने लालू प्रसाद से कहा कि अगर आप मुझे 2 साल का समय दें तो मैं बिहार को जापान बना सकता हूं।  मतलब उनका आधुनिकता से, टेक्नॉलॉजी से और  संपन्नता से था।  पर लालू प्रसाद तो लालू प्रसाद ही हैं ।

तो लालू ने छूटे ही जवाब दिया कि आप 2 साल की बात कर रहे हैं आप मुझे जापान दें तो मैं 6 महीने के अंदर ही जापान को बिहार बना दूं।

ब्रिटेन के कुछ खास शहरों में यह लालू वाला जोक तो सच होता दिखाई दे रहा है।

The predictions of Nostradamus

Somebody asked me how is it possible that Nostradamus had given so correct predictions into the future?

let me first tell you that Nostradamus had given these 'predictions' several hundred years back. 

Michel de Nostredame (1503 – 1566), popularly known as Nostradamus, was a French astrologer

who is best known for his book "Les Prophéties" , a collection of 942 poetic quatrains allegedly predicting future events.

There are mainly  two types of predictions in general..

1) A clear cut prediction such as Jean dixon prediction about The Assassination of John F Kennedy. There is a no ambiguity and you know what exactly is the prediction.

2) Vague Predictions which are difficult to understand and where there can be multiple interpretations of the prediction. These predictions are so vague that they make no sense at all.

Here is an example of a prediction of Nostradamus :

"The young lion will overcome the older one,

On the field of combat in a single battle;

He will pierce his eyes through a golden cage,

Two wounds made one, then he dies a cruel death."

And here is another:

"The great man will be struck down in the day by a thunderbolt,

An evil deed foretold by the bearer of a petition.

According to the prediction, another falls at night time.

Conflict at Reims, London and a pestilence in Tuscany."

These two examples are of the predictions of Nostradamus that have had multiple interpretations. 

I have read the interpretation of the predictions of Nostradamus from two different books. One was a book published in 1935 and kept in a public library and the other was a book I purchased a few years back. 

In these two books the interpretation of the verses are entirely different from each other in almost all cases.

The 1935 book dealt with most of the 'correct" predictions on the basis of events that had taken place already. 

A few years back I purchased a  fresh edition of the predictions of Nostradamus and was surprised to find that the versus were entrepreted in entirely different manner in most of the cases. In that recent book of 21st century many more events that had taken place replace the earlier interpretation of the verses.

 So how do you know what exactly is going to happen if you find that a particular verse points to second world war in the 1935 book and to war with Saddam Hussein 70 years later.

You don't become any wiser by reading the predictions of Nostradamus  because you cannot be certain about the meaning of the prediction. Owing to the abstract nature of these verses no two persons completely agree on what Nostradamus had predicted, whether for the past or for the future.
