Two events that were very common in towns in the period until early 1950s (and which are totally missing now) are CIRCUS and EXHIBITION (NUMAISH in North India.
CIRCUS was almost an annual event in many towns and was very popular particularly with children and young people . Feats of trapeze , of dwarf jokers and acts of various animals were quite fascinating.
Another event which was also almost annual was an EXHIBITION in an open ground where lots of traditional and new products were on sale
along with magic shows, mout- ka- kuan (motorcycle speedily going round and round on a wall) and a massive MERRY GO ROUND
.
Children's entertainment in 21st century seems to have been reduced to the screen of Smartphones and laptops.
We have moved away from the real world to a weird virtual world.
